Augustus Cowan demolished the competition and finished first in the triple jump and third in the long jump at this year's GPAC Indoor Track and Field Championships, Saturday. In the triple jump Cowan recorded a distance of 15.03m. A distance long enough to register his name in the Charger record books. Cowan's multiple top finishes earned the standout two all-conference honors.
Sam Acheampong has been all over the Briar Cliff tack and field news this year. Acheampong recorded a third place finish in the 60-meter dash and a second place finish in the 200-meter dash. Both finishes will dub Acheampong as a two-time all-conference selection. Acheampong finished the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.04s. Caleb Young recorded an all-conference finish. Young finished eighth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.68s. The BC 4X400 relay team also stamped their card as an all-conference selection. The team led by Dillian Broadnax, followed by Alan Gerdes, Patrick Cisar and Trevor Fitzpatrick finished seventh. Henry Connor finished with a personal-best and smashed his own Briar Cliff record in the pole vault.
As a team, the Briar Cliff men recorded the highest finish in Briar Cliff track and Field history. The Chargers placed seventh defeating Dordt, Midland, Mount Marty and Dakota Wesleyan. (results)
