The losing skid for the Briar Cliff women's basketball team is now two thanks to an 81-57 loss to the unranked Defenders of Dordt, in Sioux Center, Iowa.  The Chargers shot a mere 30.2 percent from the field for the game, compared to a scorching 60.5 percent for the Defenders. Kylie Dilla was the only Charger who managed to reach double figures, finishing with 10 points. 

Dilla also led the Chargers with three assists and four steals.  Yet, Dilla connected on only 25.0 percent of her shots as she was 4-16 from the field.  Kelsey Evans and Kela Cihak each contributed nine points, while Mattie Murren added eight.  Evans led the Chargers on the glass with five rebounds, but the Chargers were outrebounded, 34-31.  The Chargers forced the Defenders into 31 turnovers in the game, but they committed 28 miscues of their own.  Trailing 36-22 at the break, the Chargers came out firing from downtown and was forced to foul often.  The were only 3-17 from beyond the arc in the second half and allowed the Defenders to shoot 29 second half gifters and 41 for the game.
 
Six players registered in double figures for the Defenders, led by Elise Maresh with 15 points.  Maresh was followed by Kayla Broekhuis (12 points) and Kara Van Dyke (11 points). 
 

With the loss, the Chargers slipped to fourth place in the GPAC standings, behind Concordia, Morningside and Northwestern.  The Chargers are 19-5 overall and 10-4 in the GPAC.  For the Defenders, it was only their fifth conference win of the season as they improved to 5-10 in league play and 10-13 overall.  Briar Cliff will play at Doane, Wednesday.
