NAIA No. 15 Dakota Wesleyan defeated Briar Cliff, 36-9, tonight at the Newman Flanagan Center. With the win, the Tigers improved to 3-6 on the season in duals, while the Chargers slipped to 0-7 (0-2 in the GPAC). The Chargers' lone points on the night came from a forfeit at 133 and a victory by Justin Powell at 149. The Tigers' Josh Geppert, who is ranked fifth in the nation at heavyweight, won by foreit, while Kyle Gerlach (157) and Tyler Sarringar (174) each won by fall.
So far, five different Chargers have qualified for nationals. Senior Ben Taylor (165) along with freshmen Dillon Freeman (165), Abram Reynolds (285), Justus Strong-Rico (125) and Luis Flores (133) have already punched their tickets for this year's NAIA Championships. Flores leads the Chargers with 14 wins in 21 matches.
This Saturday, the Chargers will travel to compete in the Worthington Open, in Worthington, Minnesota.
