The BCU men's basketball team was picked to finish in the middle of the pack in the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC).  The 2008-09 GPAC Preseason Coaches' Poll was released today and the Chargers checked in at number six.  The Chargers are coming off a 22-12 season, which including a trip to the conference tournament championship game.  The Chargers finished fifth in the conference a year ago with a record of 11-7. 
Points were awarded on a 12-1 basis and coaches could not vote for their own team.  Dakota Wesleyan earned the top spot with 144 points, followed by Northwestern (122), Morningside (113), Dordt (110), Sioux Falls (97), Briar Cliff (91), Hastings (72), Dana (65), Doane (54), Nebraska Wesleyan (53), Concordia (39), Midland Lutheran (36), and Mount Marty (18). 
 
The Chargers are scheduled to play Notre Dame, Oct. 31, in an exhibition game before opening the regular season, at home, Nov. 4 against York.
