The Briar Cliff women's basketball team was picked seventh in the 2008-09 GPAC Preseason Coaches' Poll, which was released today.  The Chargers of head coach Mike Power finished tied for ninth in the conference last season with a GPAC mark of 5-13.  Overall, the Chargers were 11-20.   
Points were awarded on a 12-1 basis and coaches could not vote for their own team.  Morningside (142 points) was picked to finish first, followed by Hastings (129), Concordia (123), Northwestern (108), Doane (94), Dakota Wesleyan (85), Briar Cliff (70), Sioux Falls (68), Dordt (61), Mount Marty (59), Midland Lutheran (33), Dana (24) and Nebraska Wesleyan (18).
 
The Chargers will open their 2008-09 season, Oct. 31, by playing Minot State at the Tyson Events Center.
