The Charger football team fell to 1-3 on the season with a
17-7 loss to the Bulldogs of Concordia, today, at Bulldog Stadium, in Seward, Nebraska. The Charger offense finished with 293 total yards of offense, but it was the Charger defense that led the way with two interceptions and a pair of fumble recoveries.
The Bulldogs scored first on a 26-yard field goal on their opening possession of the game. The Chargers bounced back to take the lead on a one yard touchdown run by Stavhn Leavy in the second quarter. The Bulldogs scored a pair of rushing touchdowns in the second half, one coming on a fake field goal with 10:02 left in the game.
Leavy rushed 24 times for 86 yards to pace the Chargers on the ground. Gerdes spread the ball evenly through the air as the team's big three receivers each had six catches (Chase Colvin-82 yards, Andrew Prohaska-81 yards, Luke Roder-75 yards). Eric Bolin and Jarrod Makovicka each registered 10 total tackles in the contest. Billy Mousel led the team with six unassisted tackles and also had an interception.
The Chargers will take a 1-3 overall record into next Saturday's home tilt with nationally-ranked Midland Lutheran.
